The Role
We’re hiring a Growth Marketer to lead the growth strategy for our Expert recruitment pipeline- owning acquisition, activation, and lifecycle marketing. You’ll set the strategy, build the marketing engine, and scale multi-channel programs that bring high quality PhD+ contributors to the Surge platform. This is a cross-functional role partnering closely with other Marketing leaders, Product, Ops, and Execs.
What You’ll Do
- Build scalable acquisition frameworks focused on attracting expert-level contributors (including PhDs and specialized researchers); while defining the growth roadmap, targets, and budget to guide investment.
- Lead highly personalized, targeted 1:1 recruitment marketing strategies to engage and convert top-tier academic and professional talent.
- Ignite and expand partnerships with academia, collaborating with universities, research labs, and scholarly communities to drive contributor pipeline growth.
- Design and optimize full-funnel journeys across acquisition, onboarding, retention, and reactivation; while implementing rigorous experimentation for areas of improvement.
- Balance growth with contributor quality embedding rigorous benchmarks and academic-level evaluation criteria without slowing down recruitment.
Successful Candidates Have
- Demonstrated repeat success in performance marketing, with expertise in precision targeting and personalized 1:1 outreach for high-value or niche audiences.
- A proven track record of managing large budgets across multiple advertising channels, while tailoring strategies for specialized segments such as PhD-level and academic talent.
- Strong analytical skills, with a data-driven mindset for decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders, from internal cross-functional teams to external partners in academia.
- Are independent operators who lean into proactive ownership, adapt to ambiguity, and thrive in high-growth environments.
- A commitment to making the next generation of AI models safer and more useful.
Nice to Have
- Past experience recruiting PhD-level talent, researchers, or academics particularly in highly specialized fields.
